Why Your Shoulder Pain Might Start at Your Knee | CranioSacral Therapy

Why when it is my shoulder that hurts are you spending so much time at my knee?
Bio tensegrity – In the mid 1970’s Dr. Stephen Levin applied Buckminster Fuller’s insights into biology showing how fascia and bone form a continuous tensegral network in living organisms. Bio tensegrity views the body as a living self-stabilizing dome of tension – fascia, muscles, ligament and compressions – bones and cartilage.
Simplified what this is saying is what we sang as children or sang to our children “dem dry bones.”!
The foot bone connected to the leg bone,
The leg bone connected to the knee bone,
The knee bone connected to the thigh bone,
The thigh bone connected to the back bone,
The back bone connected to the neck bone,
The neck bone connected to the head bone,
Everything in the body is connected to everything else – the pathways are fascia, muscles, ligaments, fluids – blood, lymph, cerebral spinal, interstitial… when there is tension in one place or restriction of fluid it will create challenges to optimal movement or fluid flow throughout the system. Where we feel the restriction may not be where the restriction originates from.
My role, as the CranioSacral therapist, is to locate the origin of restriction and help the body release the tension so that everything can move easily and smoothly.
